The recent digital-only release of the single "More Or Less" features the writing, producing, singing and playing talents of two of America's finest musicians, Joel Brown and Dave Maswick.

As a classical guitarist, Joel Brown, has traveled worldwide appearing at the Mikulov Guitar Festival in the Czech republic, in Asia with the Singapore Chinese Orchestra, Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, Tanglewood, Caramoore Festival, as well as NBC’s Today show, CNN’s Showbiz Today, NPR and BBC. His varied talents aren’t limited to classical music though. Brown is also a member of the touring group Triple Play, a border-crossing trio blending jazz with blues and folk, including members Chris Brubeck and harmonica legend Peter Madcat Ruth. Between tour dates he can be found at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs as an Artist in Residence.

Brown’s latest CD release "Places", is a collection of songs showcasing his song-writing ability. Drawing on music that helped to shape him, he manages to mix genres that cover acres of musical ground, from folky three part harmonies, to soulful ballads, to full-tilt-horn-driven rock and roll. Brown’s other recordings include; Triple Play Live at Zankel Music Center with Dave Brubeck and Frank Brown, Watching the World, Bach to Brubeck with the London Symphony Orchestra, Chords and Thyme with English guitarist Edward Flower, King’s Court and Celtic Fair with the Empire Brass and Across Your Dreams with Fredrica von Stade. His Christmas Cedar and Spruce album was featured on NPR’s Performance Today.

As a member of the ‘80’s group Blotto, you may have seen Dave Maswick in the video for the hit song "I Wanna Be a Lifeguard" on MTV’s very first day on the air. Dave went on to write, produce and play with many of the finest musicians in the U.S. and Europe on music and film projects too numerous to mention, all the while continuing his long association as a charter member of seminal country metal bluegrass proponents, the Stony Creek Band.

The News From Here does not pay homage to musical styles of the past; it is not an artifact but rather songs written in the language spoken and understood by those who have gone through it. 
Dave’s music is not a tribute, not a mash-up, not post-modern anything but rather new music in a timeless style that communicates the issues that face us all in our day-to-day lives. It is not a challenge but rather an invitation to reveal and articulate the themes, triumphs and travails of adult lives.
